Popmatters – ‘Over doomily cascading Gary Numan-style synths, Marquis explores the extremely thin line between delight and despair.’

New York, NY – Litter to Society is the latest installment of the ambitious and evolving multi-media solo project from Del Marquis, lead guitarist of award winning pop band Scissor Sisters, with Embryoroom, the bestselling creative force behind the multi-angle DVD, Kuvaputki. The release features 8 tracks and a remix of the title track from French electro outlet Lifelike. It will be available via digital services and at delmarquis.com on May 26th.

As with the previous installments (Hothouse, released in December and Character Assassination, released in March) Litter to Society comes with a corresponding digital short picking up where the last one left off. In these ‘intersodes’ Del plays the character of Viz, who has been abducted by a mysterious force and taken into a world where he is seemingly ‘dissected’ emotionally and psychologically, therefore forced to confront his fears.

The abstract, Sci-Fi-influenced series of shorts are created in collaboration with Embryoroom Multimedia Group, led by visionary writer/director/producer Edward Quist and Michael Wargula Sonically Litter to Society continues Del’s experimentation in blending emotional themes and a forward-thinking vision with a classic synth-soulpop palette that recalls pioneers of the sound such as The Human League, Tears for Fears and Mind Bomb-era The The, while delving into more experimental soundscapes.

‘Litter to Society is the most intense thematic release of the series,’ says Del. ‘It would be impossible to divorce one element from the other, i.e. the visuals, the songs, the interludes; each element works together to tell a story. It is an account of depravity in modern life, told through songs about urban and social decay. But with each moment, there is always hope, the ‘child inside,’ and the possibility of redemption even after reveling in life’s seediest pleasures.’

Del Marquis is currently at work on the as-yet-untitled forth and final release in the series, and preparing a series of special performances in support of the releases.
